On Creativity

Good Morning, Choir!

What a season it has been! I can’t beleive that the last time I wrote in this blog was August of 2020. I’d like to say that it was a different world, but I think back to that moment and the throughline is so clear: the disruption to our routine, the foundations of our institutions and values shaken, the cloudiness of our future.

See the smiles? The innocence? Quaint now, isn’t it?

Amid all of that I released two songs that year. “Better Together”: an anthemic chant that I wanted to speak truth-to-power about our strength in unity. And “Land of Love”: a childlike perspective on how to fix the problems of the world presented in meditative electropop.

I think as a planet that some of us have really focused on healing the ills of the world that have been unearthed from a pandemic and the threats to democratic institutions. There are some that have seen opportunities to personal gain in this disruption and have deliberately clouded the water in self-interest.

It’s from this place that I began working on the collection of songs that I hope to release in 2024. I’ve decided to try and use this blog space on my website as the primary source and location for my creativity because I can do so without commercial interruption. There are no ads, banners, trackers, or otherwise hidden agendas on here other than creating art and attempting to connect with you, a growing audience of thoughtful, interested weirdos.

Sneak peek in the studio.

I’m going to attempt to update this twice a week, so check back for updates!
